17 Days Old and Counting

Well, Joshua is now 17 days old, wow, these last 2 weeks have flown by! He had his 2 week check up yesterday and weighed in at 8 lbs 4 oz, a whole pound more that he weighed when he was born. He measured 21 and a quarter inches long as well. We will see if this trend continues. He is starting to smile and make more noises. It is so fun to just watch him. He is so alert when he is awake, so uncharacteristic of a 2 week old. He is starting to hold up his head and is SO strong. You can feel his leg muscles even when he is relaxed. We find it amazing how much you can love someone in such a short amount of time. I think we have adjusted to having a baby pretty easily, except we are both pretty much always tired, but that is to be expected. We thought we were going to luck out in the fact that he didn't really cry when he was born, but alas, we spoke too soon. He has taken to crying, and when he does he can be pretty loud, but it is usually only when he is hungry or needs a clean diaper. He is a pretty good sleeper most nights. He usually goes about 5 hours between feedings, key word being usually. His embilical cord fell off today, so now he can have a bath. Gramma Val and Poppa Bill left of Sunday. It was nice to have the help and company, but we were ready to be our little family again.
